BONDING Bonding is a procedure by which a tooth colored enamel-like composite material is chemically attached or bonded to your tooth. Bonding can close spaces, repair chips, and minor discolorations economically, and often with no need for local anesthesia. It can also be used to restore fractured teeth and reshape mal-positioned and mis-shaped teeth. Bonding is one of the few cosmetic procedures that is totally under the dentist's control. The dentist applies the composite to the tooth and sculpts it into their perception of an ideal tooth for the particular patient. In the hands of a skillful, artistic dentist bonding is fun, as it is painless, non-invasive, and can provide remarkable results quickly. Some examples of typical bonding situations follow.
